What was rising when you arrived?

Your rising sign, or ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment you were born. It describes your first impression, your style and the way you meet new situations.

The rising sign changes about every two hours, and sometimes faster. Even 15 minutes can change it if you were born near the border between two signs. That's why an exact birth time gives the most reliable result.

Try your birth certificate, hospital records or family first. If none of these work, our birth-time discovery estimates your rising sign from a short questionnaire about your personality, looks and life events.

We calculate the ascendant from astronomical positions to within a fraction of a degree, using your birth place's historical time zone and daylight-saving rules. The result is as accurate as the birth time you enter.

They describe different things. Your Sun sign is your core self, your Moon sign your emotional needs, and your rising sign the way you present yourself and approach life. Together they are your 'Big Three'.
